History

Our Founders

The Good Night Foundation was founded by Mike Freed, the co-founder and managing partner of Passport Resorts LLC and creator of Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, California; and Jack Theimer, president of The Theimer Group, chief executive officer of HPJ Media Ventures and Clinton Global Initiative member. As leaders in their respective fields of acclaimed resorts and lifestyle media, they believe the hospitality environment offers a unique nexus for travelers to assist in improving destinations they visit and enjoy.

The Good Night Foundation and its partner hotels allow travelers to become engaged in "microphilanthropy," which multiplies and blossoms to affect positive change. Travelers already play a key role in microphilanthropy with their support of local artisans, musicians, and others, through purchases in the communities they visit. In the microphilanthropy model of The Good Night Foundation, a multitude of modest donations grows into a formidable sum.

Our Inspiration

The Good Night Foundation was inspired by the Clinton Global Initiative. The goals of this non-partisan initiative are to increase the benefits and reduce the burdens of global interdependence; to make a world of more partners and fewer enemies; and to give more people the tools they need to build a better future.
